  2. Creating a CLEAN boot disk:

  5. To create a clean boot disk, perform the following operations:
  6.  
  7.  
  8. 1.  Get a disk whose contents you don't mind overwriting.
  9.  
  10.  
  11. 2.  Format the disk using the DOS format command.  Substitute B: for
  12.     A: if you are using Drive B:.
  13.  
  14.         'FORMAT A: /s /v'
  15.  
  16.     Follow on-screen instructions.
  17.  
  18.  
  19. 3.  Use DOS's EDIT command to edit a config.sys file on your floppy disk.
  20.     Make sure that you specify the disk drive in which your floppy is.
  21.  
  22.     eg. 'EDIT A:CONFIG.SYS'
  23.  
  24.     Type the following:
  25.  
  26.     DOS = HIGH,UMB
  27.     DEVICE = C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  28.  
  29. 4.  Use DOS's EDIT command to edit an autoexec.bat file on your floppy disk.
  30.     Make sure that you specify the disk drive in which your floppy is.

  32.     eg. 'EDIT A:AUTOEXEC.BAT'

  34.     Type the following:

  36.     C:
  37.     CD \8BALLDLX
  38.     8BALLDLX
  39.  
  40.  
  41.     Note:  If you did not do a default installation, you must adjust the
  42.     above example accordingly.
